Stages of installation
In a standard form lightning protection is presented in two types:
- External. It includes installing of conductor wires, interception rods and grounding.
- Internal. It provides protection of wiring elements, electrical appliances and other equipment which is placed in the building.
Depending on the chosen type, installation may vary slightly, but usually it is divided into three types of work: roofing; grounding; facade. For their implementation specialists do the following:
- Install interception rods. The best place for this is the highest point of a building (or the area around it).
- Install conductor wires. They take the current from the interception rod and transmit it to the grounding system.
- Install a surge protection device. This element is responsible for the stabilization of the potential difference and the deviation of electrical impulses.
- Install artificial or natural grounding.
Additionally, a voltage limiter can be added to the project. It protects all the electrical appliances in the building from overvoltage (energy surge during a thunderstorm).
After all the work, experts start putting the elements into use. At this stage, produce the necessary verification procedures are made, including measurements.
